It’s an inspiration for authors and storytellers, where Stormtroopers and Time Lords have rubbed shoulders with dragons and unicorns. Book now to discover why we are such a popular filming location.

If you enjoy walking, the great outdoors, breathtaking scenery or discovering nature whatever the season, you’ll love Puzzlewood. Experience twisted trees in an otherworldly woodland through a mile and a half of paths, bridges and lookout points. It’s a wood like no other, and its magic will cast a spell to entice you back time and time again.

Because the health and safety of our visitors and staff is always our number one priority, we’ve introduced a “Keep Left and Walk On” system to discourage backtracking and bumping into people behind. If everyone keeps moving, there’s plenty of opportunity to explore every Roman nook and iron ore cranny again and again.

Fun for families - even with restrictions

Whether your kids are toddlers or teens, every age loves to explore the woods and let their imaginations run wild among the Roman nooks and iron ore crannies. To inspire everyone, pick up our Wizards Guide onsite and download the Puzzlewood app.

In the Guide you can seek out and tick off 20 objects, items, places and faces, including our new Big Four animals. The app features a treasure hunt for Roman coins and our website is packed with information on the trees, the birds and of course our animals. Say hello to Banksy, she’s missed you.

Brilliant for bubbles, great for groups

We don’t have any horcruxes, but we are home to badgers, deer, foxes, rabbits and a variety of bats, including the protected lesser horseshoe bat, and birds from buzzards to owls, which makes Puzzlewood a unique learning environment for school and youth groups. We’re much-loved by photographers and Puzzlewood hosts regular photography workshops and residential photography courses, where snappers learn up close and personal from a professional wildlife photographer.

The perfect place to stay

Puzzlewood is central to the Forest of Dean and Wye Valley, and reasonably close to the Cotswolds, so why not plan a longer stay and relax at one of Puzzlewood Cottages? We have a choice self-catering accommodation that sleep up to four or eight people. Book for a weekend or longer and enjoy Puzzlewood to the full and have the perfect base from which to explore Monmouthshire, Hereford and Gloucestershire.

Hopefully Puzzlewood casts its spell on you and we look forward to welcoming you soon.
